6 Steps for Using AdWords to Market Your Blog

Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is a great way to drive traffic to your blog. However, you shouldn’t simply set up a campaign with AdWords and send traffic to your blog. Instead, there are some steps you should follow so you can get the most out of that traffic that comes your way.

Step 1 – Make Sure Your Blog is Professional

AdWords and other PPC platforms actually analyze blogs and websites. If a site isn’t professional, they will assign the account a low quality score. That means the account holder will have to pay more for ads. Professional Premium WordPress templates and great content can help you have a professional site. Thus, make sure you have both and then move on to the next step.

Step 2 – Create a Giveaway

Next, you need to create a free item that you will give away to your visitors. For instance, you can create an eBook that’s related to your niche, or you can create a whitepaper. You might even create a piece of software to give away for free, or offer a free trial for one of your digital products.

Step 3 – Load the Item into Your Email Management System

Next, load the giveaway into your email management system. You will set it up so people will receive the item when they sign up for your list. Thus, it will be the first or second message in your autoresponder series. If it is the second message, it will go out right after the first. The first will be a welcome message, and the second will contain the free item.

Step 4 – Put an Opt-In Form on Your Blog

Next, you will need to put an opt-in form on your blog. You can create the form with your email management system. Then, when people fill out the form, they will get the free item and they will subscribe to your list.

Step 5 – Create Your Ads

Then, you will need to create ads for your free item. Use the free item as your call-to-action inside of the ad.

Step 6 – Gather Email Addresses

Your ads will drive traffic to your blog. Some of those visitors will sign up for your email list so they can receive the free item. Once they sign up, you will have their email address.

This is a really easy way to drive traffic to your blog. It will cost a bit of money, but you can set your budget and only spend as much as you want.
